Q: What is CE marking process and how to prepare an EMC technical construction file (TCF)?
Answer
CE marking EMC process: (1) Identify applicable directives: EMC Directive 2014/30/EU for EU. (2) Determine applicable harmonized standards: EN 55032 (radiated/conducted emissions) EN 55035 (immunity). (3) Product classification: Class A (industrial) or Class B (residential) – Class B is stricter. (4) EMC design: apply best practices during design phase. (5) Testing: use an accredited EMC test lab (TUV SGS Nemko). Pre-compliance testing: use near-field probes and LISN in-house. (6) Technical Construction File (TCF): document includes: product description block diagram standards applied test reports risk assessment. (7) Declaration of Conformity (DoC): sign and publish. (8) Apply CE mark. For self-certification (Class A) the manufacturer takes full responsibility. For Class B most products must be tested at an accredited lab. Keep TCF for 10 years. If product fails testing: add shielding filters and retest.
